Changes

Leaves are changing colors, falling from the trees. And Norah has been changing as well, developing independence. She has discovered that there is no overuse of the word, "NO!" and has forgotten how to fall asleep. Before I had a child, I did not know sleeping was a skill. It is! So I am going to consult a couple of books that have helped me at trying times, mostly showing me that Norah and I are normal and giving me a few alternatives to ponder or remember. And pray that my choices lead her to Fin's and my ultimate goal - Norah's independence from us and dependence on God.

This is a really sweet post, and you two are wonderful parents. I'm curious what your favorite books are on these subjects. And I hope Norah is sleeping better.

Thank you, Lisa. She was sleeping well again, after cutting 2 molars (Ah-ha), but we've had a lapse (holiday madness i think?).
As for books, we have a comprehensive book from Focus On the Family, The Complete Book of Baby and Childcare, that is good at reminding me that all is normal. I get some good ideas from, The Happiest Toddler on the Block. I am slowly progressing through Discipline Them, Love Them and Standing on the Promises and Grace-Based Parenting and The Key to Your Child's Heart.
